From schoolboy heartbreak to stadium hits: Norlie & KKV’s journey through pain and playlists
Norlie & KKV bare their souls with new collaboration track, 15 years in, they're finally telling the truth.
Norlie & KKV return with personal new single «Heartbreak & 808s» featuring Bruno, a tribute to 2008 heartbreak, Kanye West and growing up after love ends.
They’ve been dominating Swedish airwaves for fifteen years, racking up hundreds of millions of streams along the way. But now Norlie & KKV are stripping back the production and getting properly vulnerable with their latest release.
The dynamic duo, Sonny Fahlberg and Kim Vadenhag, droped their emotionally-charged new single «Heartbreak & 808s» on 16 October, teaming up with friend and fellow artist Bruno for a track that pulls no punches.
At its core lies a story from 2008, when Kim suffered his first proper heartbreak at high school age. And yes, apparently it was devastating enough that he’s still writing songs about it nearly two decades later.
«The words just were there»
Kim recalls the moment the track began to take shape during a studio session:
«I was sitting in the studio babbling on about a true story from when I was in sixth form and just got my heart utterly shattered. Then the song basically wrote itself. The hook came pretty quickly and the words were just there».
Bruno, whose musical style wanders between indie, R&B and neo-soul (his single «Ung» hit second place on Spotify Viral Sweden), contributes the chorus, essentially meeting up with old mates to tell a story Kim can now look back on with some distance.

A Kanye tribute you don’t expect
The track title doesn’t come from nowhere. It’s a deliberate nod to Kanye West’s landmark 2008 album «808s & Heartbreak», fitting considering the era the story originates from.
Sonny explains: «We listened to an old voice memo and the title ‘Heartbreak & 808s’ came out as a freestyle, and it’s kind of a tribute to Kanye West and the music from that time».
Grateful for the pain
Here’s the twist, while the first breakup was plainly devastating at the time, Kim can now look back with something approaching gratitude.
«Right then and there it was obviously destructive, but now many years later you’ve reached a point where you can look back at it with thankfulness that you actually got hurt and learned to move on», Kim says. «It’s still part of life».
A personal turn after 15 years
Following their previous single «Gjort Allting Igen» which dropped on 2 October 2026, opening what the duo are calling a «new chapter», Norlie & KKV are leaning harder into their roots with some of their most personal lyrics yet.
After fifteen years together, the pair are finally letting their own stories breathe through the music, this one being about a love that ended, but left its mark on whoever they became. And ultimately, about finding forgiveness and moving forward.
Not exactly a party anthem, then, but probably far more memorable.
«Some heartbreaks last forever. Others turn into platinum records».
