Swedish Melodifestivalen according to me ! – Semi-final 1 2025

-

SVT guarantee a star-studded lineup of beloved artists and 17 debutants, all vying for the Songbird title and a chance to represent Sweden in Eurovision this May.

Semi-final 1 – Luleå, 1 February 2025

1. «Upp i luften» – Albin Johnsén feat. Pa

Origin: Albin Johnsén, Christoffer Balazik, FERNAND MP, Mattias Andréasson, Pa Modou

This catchy tune has a great sound, and while it unfortunately didn’t achieve the success we hoped for, I truly believe that it has the potential to become a hit on Swedish radio this coming spring. The melody and lyrics are sure to resonate with listeners, and I’m confident many people will enjoy it once it gets the chance to be heard more widely.

2. «Kamikaze Life» – Maja Ivarsson

Origin: Andreas «Giri» Lindbergh, Jimmy «Joker» Thörnfeldt, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Maja Ivarsson

This song felt like a typical pop-rock track that you might hear on mainstream radio; it didn’t stand out as anything particularly extraordinary or remarkable. While it wasn’t my favorite piece of music, I still found it interesting enough to note that it managed to reach the final of Melodifestivalen, which was held on 8 March 2025.

3. «Voice of the Silent» – John Lundvik

Origin: Jimmy Jansson, John Lundvik, Peter Boström, Thomas G:son

My absolute favorite song from this Semi-final 1, it is so incredibly catchy. It’s the kind of tune that gets stuck in your head and just won’t let go, making it impossible for anyone to not enjoy it! John made it to the final as expected.

4. «Hush Hush» – Meira Omar

Origin: Anderz Wrethov, Dino Medanhodzic, Laurell Barker, Meira Omar

It reminded me a little bit of Norwegian Deepika Thathaal from the 1990s, a time that brought back some fond memories, but ultimately it didn’t leave any lasting impression on me. I had really high hopes for it, expecting something memorable or impactful, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite anonymous and unremarkable. Despite my initial expectations, it still managed to secure a spot in the second chance round, which indicates that there may be something redeemable about it after all.

5. «Vår första gång» – Adrian Macéus

Origin: Adam «Rymdpojken» Englund, Adrian Björklund, Adrian Macéus, Hugo Geijer Persson, William Pärlenskog

I had much higher expectations for this particular song, as I was really looking forward to something unique and memorable. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just another generic anonymous pop song that didn’t quite resonate with me. Regardless of this disappointment, I still believe that he will achieve considerable success with his devoted fans who tend to embrace his style and appeal. It didn’t make it to the final.

6. «Den känslan» – Linnea Henriksson

Origin: David Lindgren Zacharias, Linnea Henriksson, Sebastian Atas

This must be the semi-final’s most unremarkable pop song, one that failed to gain any real traction or popularity. It is precisely this lack of recognition that ultimately led to its inability to progress to the final round of competition.

The second semi-final is scheduled to be broadcast on Saturday, the 8th of February, via SVT, starting at 20.00. Be sure to tune in for this exciting event!
